2011 is a huge building year for K38 Water Safety Australia with a focus on building strong working relationships with PWC clubs, Maritime agencies, Aquatic event organisers (such as paddling events) to promote event safety/rescue skills. K38 strongly promote we all play in the sun with a dedicated incident team for such sanctioned events. Dave and Simon will also attending two weeks of advanced RWC (Rescue Water Craft – PWC used for a rescue operation) training in the United States to be able to share this skills with like minded people and organisations in Australia/New Zealand. We are also attending the World Wide K38 Summit in California in October 2011 as we all strive towards global safety standards and responsibilities with PWC’s.
We are currently working on bringing a number of PWC advanced courses to Australia/New Zealand which will be over and above any other boat/PWC license you may have, once we announce these courses if you don’t already hold a Recreational Marine Boat license and PWC license you cannot enroll in these courses. These courses will include subjects (and lots of practical exercises) like;
- Surf Zone skills – negotiating waves, tow in surfing code of conduct.
- Rescue Skills with and without a approved rescue board
- Capsizing and reboard both single/double/triple operator
- PWC general maintenance and troubleshooting
- Intake cleaning drills
- Small vessal towing
- Emergency Procedures
- Event Safety/planning and risk mitigation
- Communications, verbally, hand and Radio (must have a Marine Radio License)
- Understanding the environment, planning for conditions
